A largely quiet residential area, with many cul de sacs and located very close to the center of San Jose. La Sabana has a number of museums, restaurants, fine hotels and a Medical University-UC Med. Many years ago this area used to house the main airport in San Jose, however, today La Sabana has been converted into a 177 acre beautiful park, where one can visit many ponds and playgrounds as well as the fascinating Museum of Costa Rica Art which was the old airport control tower.  A huge park with plenty of lovely fountains and various sports facilities including a skating rink is the delight of  Ticos and foreigners that come here for picnics, jogging and outdoor concerts. It also boasts being the site of the new 35,000 seat National Stadium due to be inaugurated in March 2011.

Once more Sabana is undergoing a surge in commercial and high rise apartment development. Many smaller home sites are being assembled and demolished in favor of 10-14 story high rise residential condos. The La Sabana ‘ring road’ is now a proliferation of towers under construction. Sabana Sur is home to many office complexes and a tennis club.

Its proximity to the downtown core and easy access to all major highways makes it a very attractive alternative to living in the suburbs. A city feel but without the traffic congestion. A neat area to live and invest.
